Sue paints with acrylics and oils, applying the paint with brushes, palette knives, rollers, sponges and rags. She also employs mixed media such as pastels, inks, fillers, mediums, waxes, pens and pencils.

Her paintings are an expression of her love and deep emotional connection with the natural world and of animals.  They range from highly representational to impressionistic - sometimes merging the boundaries between real and imagined.

Sue lives in a village on the border between Essex and Suffolk surrounded by gentle rolling landscapes and ancient broad leaf woodlands which she finds inspiring and comforting in equal measure.

Earlier creative years

Sue qualified as a lettering artist at the City and Guilds of London Art School in 1997. The history of how writing evolved as an abstract concept, its importance to our everyday existence and the beauty of the individual letter shapes themselves holds endless potential for creativity and Sue spent many years successfully designing lettering for commercial application which included calligraphy, stone carving, signwriting and font design.

Gradually her interests broadened to include expressive art and in particular, painting.
