Artist's note: This ancient oak tree is much loved and admired by local people as it lives and grows alongside a public footpath in a natural woodland. Although precariously clinging on to the edge of a deep ravine in a played out quarry, I've been told it has remained like this for many years and possibly decades. Each spring I revisit the tree and gain a deep sense of relief that it's still holding on!
